This two-day course will cover the following areas:

  1. Barriers to and Enablers of Participation in Workplace Learning and Training - What we know; The various dimensions - personal, contextual, social, attitudinal and organisational; personal and organisational implications for workplace practitioners.
  2. Workplace Learning and Training - Some key elements and factors including organisational context and culture; worker/role/job characteristics; enterprise factors; employee/trainee perceptions and views re influences on their decision-making; the nature and role of workplace learning and training motivation; expansive and restrictive workplace learning and training
  3. Workplace Learning and Training in Ireland - policies, drivers, approaches and participation
  4. Workplace Learning and Training partnerships - key issues, benefits and approaches
  5. Learning and Training Needs Analysis - issues, approaches and benefits; personal and organisational learning/training action planning
  6. Good practice in effective workplace Learning and Training - principles; methods; formal, informal and non-formal learning; the role of evaluation; adult learning styles
  7. The Organisational Learning Culture
  8. Planning for Action - personal, micro and macro issues and approaches.
