The course is designed to provide participants with knowledge of potential sources for procurement and routes to market for their services, as well as identifying in a very practical way how to prepare and submit winning tenders. Participants will therefore benefit by gaining a greater understanding of the procurement and tender process, demystifying the process and increase their chances of obtaining new business by creating winning tenders.

 The course is highly participative and attendees will have the opportunity to work on real life case studies, relevant to their own business; as well as utilising on line web sites and search engines to search for relevant tender notices and documents as well as carrying out market research on line. The course also makes use of Mind Mapping software as a method of capturing syndicate work and introduces the concept of collaborative work in tendering.
 
Programme  Aim:
This one day course is intended to significantly improve the abilities of participating trainers in preparing and submitting winning tenders.
 
The course explores the ways that a business can maximise its chances of success and highlights the important factors that must be considered throughout the tendering process.
 
The course will give participants an understanding of:
  • How public sector & private companies buy their goods & services
  • How to source & assess opportunities on both sides of the border The types of tender & the key stages in the tender process
  • What buyers are looking for
  • How to respond to tenders effectively.
  • How to develop a clear, systematic process from pre-qualification to a winning presentation, including effective tender writing.

  • The “tender trap” – why tenders are lost & how much they cost
  • The 3 Cs of success:
    1. Cost (Value for money/price)

Training Method:
Interactive learning – Group discussion and breakout exercises.
 
“Mind map” based checklists of breakout group exercises will be generated on computer during the course, covering each aspect of the tender process. These will be distributed to participants as part of the course – ideally during the course.
 
Practical exercise and group presentation: - A high level of participation is encouraged throughout the day to enable peer learning and to maximise a “hands on” non theoretical approach to the subject matter.
 
Use will be made of Wi-Fi internet access, where available in the venue, to enable participants to search for & utilise “live” tender notices as part of the group exercises.
 
Participants are encouraged to bring their own Wi-Fi enabled laptops for this element, but this is not essential.
